Ivan Vila has been working in the mental health field in Philadelphia, PA for over 18 years. With the challenging pandemic of 2020, he felt that something had to be done to help families in need. So with the support of family and very close friends, they worked together to create H.U.G.S. (Humanity United 4 Global Support) to help the most vulnerable communities during this pandemic.
Post-pandemic, H.U.G.S began new ventures to support the growing immigrant population in the Philadelphia area. With the support of now Vice President Emma Gillam and her daughter Emily Gillam, personal development workshops were implemented virtually and hosted once a month in which guest speakers and experts in different fields from around the globe shared their insight into different important topics.
We are supporting a range of needs for immigrant families (such as medical, educational, legal, etc) in order for them to successfully transition into this country.
HUGS strives to be a model organization, capable of strengthening family dynamics. With little to no resources for new immigrants available , part of our mission is to strengthen families in the physical, mental and spiritual areas by giving parents all the necessary information, resources and emotional support they need to make informed decisions for their children as they navigate life in the US. This their integral growth and allows for them to be agents of positive change in our society.
We are a nonprofit organization centered around providing emotional support, information, and education for immigrant families. The organization connects these families through conferences, trainings, peer-support, and a monthly presentation on different topics that help strengthen family relationships. Through making these resources openly available, we aim to lessen the feelings of worry and frustration that come with learning a new environment and culture while also providing families with a sense of restored hope and peace.
Your contribution will enable us to continue operations and help those in need. We are very grateful for your generosity.
